Hutton Le Hole – Ana Cross – Lastingham

A 7.5 mile (12km) walk of 3-4 hour duration starting from the carpark just on the outskirts of the village on the Lastingham Road.

This walk takes an outward route from Hutton-Le-Hole across Spaunton Moor to Rosedale Chimney Bank Top with absolutely stunning views across Rosedale. Chimney Bank is classified as the steepest road in England (don’t worry we aren’t going down) with a maximum gradient of 33% and a Holy Grail achievement for cyclists. From the top we follow the trail across the moor to Ana Cross, which marked a medieval route way between Lastingham and Rosedale Abbey, but also the site of ancient burial mounds. From Ana Cross we follow the path across Lastingham Ridge towards the village before turning right and heading back along the path and our return into Hutton-Le-Hole.
