Experience Real Yorkshire

Walking Challenges

Excellent training in preparation for our long distance walking holidays or international walking events.

Walk Yorkshire’s walking challenge programme is designed for those individuals or groups who are looking in the future to complete one of our Long Distance Walking Events from the 50 mile Tabular Hills to the iconic 110 mile Cleveland Way. You may also be looking further ahead to a post COVID free world and take on the likes of Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjiro or the impressive Inca City at Machu Picchu. Two regular Walk Yorkshire walkers did the Inca Trail in 2019, and one experienced Everest Base Camp as well as a trek up Mont Blanc in the Swiss Alps.

These challenge walks are also good preparation for charity events such as the Lyke Wake Walk and the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Long distance walking can be a big undertaking and therefore good endurance levels and time on your feet is time well spent.

However, you may not be planning on doing any of the above, just simply wish to engage with likeminded people for a longer trek over the splendid North York Moors National Park.

Our Walking Challenges are open events so please refer to the dates listed on each challenge page, or alternatively our calendar below.

If you wish to organise a bespoke walking challenge event privately please contact us using the form below. We will be more than happy to sort this out for you.

We grade our challenge walks on the following criteria, the overall distance and the severity and frequency of ascents. Our route descriptors are therefore very useful guiders when deciding on what’s best for you. If you have any doubts whatsoever please contact us for further advice and route information. Depending on the time of year we reserve the right to change a route if weather and ground conditions are unsatisfactory. Your health and safety is our primary concern and we want you to enjoy the experience and time spent with us.
