Our "Stay in one Place" Walking breaks

Our single centre self guided walking holidays have been carefully selected to discover the finest scenery and the most pleasant places within the North York Moors.

The breaks are structured so you go at your own pace, take detours to places of interest, and have a break when and where you wish. Our routes will provide plenty of opportunities to take refreshments and at the end of each day a relaxing place to spend the night.

We will provide maps and detailed route descriptors highlighting any attractions to take in on the way. We will always be there to provide assistance if you require or need our help.

Our “Staying in one place” breaks are based in specially selected country house hotels offering a high standard of service and the exceptional accommodation.

All our walking breaks include bed and breakfast, evening meals are not included allowing you the freedom to choose and make your own arrangements. All our accommodation is in quaint country villages or towns with a variety of places to eat in the evening, we can also guide you to many of the recommended eating houses in the vicinity.

    This self guided walking holiday is set in a beautiful area known locally and internationally as “Heartbeat Country”, named after the Yorkshire TV series set in 1960’s rural North Yorkshire. Over an 18 year period the programme followed the local constabulary on their duties around the moors and local area, encountering many characters and rogues within the beautiful North York Moors. Filmed in and around the picturesque village of Goathland, which became known to millions as Aidensfield.

    Northern Moors – Captain James Cook Country

    On this self guided walking break you will discover the birthplace of one of our most famous explorers, Captain James Cook. Explore the northern moors with an option to experience the splendour of the Yorkshire Heritage coastline with this walking break. Lying to the east of Great Ayton are two of the most prominent landmarks on the Cleveland Hills; the monument to Captain Cook on Easby Moor erected in 1827 commands spectacular views over the rolling moorland of the Cleveland hills, and the spectacular Roseberry Topping (320m) known to the Viking settlers as Odin’s Hill but known locally as the Yorkshire Matterhorn due to its distinctive shape.

    The Heritage Coastal self guided walk takes us from Saltburn in the north and heads south to some of the most beautiful bays on the Yorkshire coastline. This is a coastline with dramatic views and with the highest point on the east coast of England at Boulby near to Staithes where the cliffs stand at an impressive 656ft high.
